Fruits in Syrup (Spoon Sweets)
The need to extend the consumption of seasonal fruits has led to simple preservation recipes, namely boiling of fruits in a sugar based syrup.
A wide variety of fruits was used, grapes, figs, sour cherries, cherries, oranges and many other. Also it was extended to pistachios, walnuts, rose petals even aubergines.
They are called traditionally spoon sweets as they were served in a small spoon and a glass of water as a welcome token but also in other occasions as marriages, christenings and other aspects of social life.
Spoon Sweets need skills. They need pure ingredients and the syrup to blend perfectly with the aromas of the fruit, so that they can be preserved all year round in a jar.
You can find it in 24 different flavors.
